I hate spoilers but I'm about to post one or two: So, my heart would easily give this book 4 solid stars. The storyline snagged my attention: Athlete, single-ish dad/uncle, school teacher. All the elements I need to leave satisfied. Their relationship is given plenty of time to develop and when it does, it's magical. Their friendship is solid which leads to a romance that's strong--you'd think. But, you'd be wrong. That's all I'm going to say about that. And then there's my head, the book would get 3 stars, at best--slow build-up, leading to an all too brief resolution (10 pages of happily ever after!? Really?!) There's ZERO heat. Zero. In romances, I need (and would expect after this build up) some explosive sexiness. Eh. Just so-so. And his character isn't developed. GIVE US MORE FROM HIM. He's lovable once you get over the 200 pages of angst. But, we see very little dimension to him. If you're looking for a book about friendship and unrequited, slow love without much burn (if you're looking for chocolate milk), this is your book. If you want heat (like bourbon, or hell, even MOUTH wash has more bite than this book), find something else.Product details

Wrecking Ball Hard To Love Book 1 edition by P Dangelico Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
I am so excited. I found an new author to love and a comfort read. I know I will read this one again and again.
The pacing of this book is just excellent. Each section is delicious. I love a slow burn romance and this one is so well done.
The hero and heroine start out not knowing each other or liking each other and then they do and become friends and then we watch them fall in love.
Calvin is gruff and grumpy and yet emotionially intelligent. He raised his siblings and is taking care of his nephew. He is closed off after his divorce and childhood.
Cam is grieving the death of her husband who left her with a scandal.
They each have friends and family. They are complex.
There is a lot of wit to this book as well as charm and ache.
It is full of little details and kindnesses and raw love and hurt.
I love that the hero is far from a man whore. I can't get enough of the kind of hero who sees women (all women and not just the heroine) as people and not bodies.
The last turn of the book is a little melodramatic but it is still great. The epilogue is good but I wanted more. I am thrilled this is going t0 be series!
Really loved it!
I absolutely adored this book. This is certainly on my will read again list. What I loved about this book was the brooding hero and the sassy heroine.
Camilla DeSantis is left jobless and penniless after finishing a three year fight trying to prove that she had nothing to do with her late husband's ponzi scheme. She's desperate for a job and is offered to be the live in nanny/homeschooler for three months to the nephew of NY Titians Quarterback Calvin Shaw while his sister is in rehab.
Their relationship starts of rocky. Like so rocky that Cam really doesn't like him and is reluctant to even take the job. He doesn't make it easy either. He is grumpy and makes it very hard to be likable. But their relationship grows and I love it.
The story is told in a manor that I wasn't quite use to. It was a first POV where I got the feeling I was reading someone diary. Maybe I'm not explaining that right but it was like this review with the extra added commentary. I don't know how to phrase it but I liked it. What I didn't like was some of the inner monologue was a bit harsh towards Calvin. She often called him names in her head but sometimes actually said it to his face. Not sure I'd like my employee being that extra sassy/nasty to my face. But that's who she was a sassy, take no BS individual. Even though she stated she was the push over with her last husband. I didn't see that growth there. Not sure that kind of ballsyness just grows over night. But again, I loved this story and it was clear it was gonna be 5-stars before I even reached the middle of this book. I think the only thing that could have dragged this down to a 4-stars would have been the mention of aliens or time travel.
Cam and Calvin are two people meant to be together but it takes a while. Cam was married and her husband ran a Ponzi scheme and now is dead. She lost everything, the press put her through a lot blaming her for the scheme as well and she had nothing to do with it. She is now living at home with her parents when she finally gets a job homeschooling the nephew of a famous quarterback. They do not like each other! Calvin comes from a very humble background, raises his younger brothers and sisters and his ex-wife cheated on him. His opinion of women and children are both a little negative. It is a job that is temporary and to last just three months. I loved both of these characters a lot seeing the pain they had each gone through and their reactions to each other. What we end up with is a story of two very likeable characters, I know he is very cranky but oh so enduring, who have to learn to trust again not just others but themselves as well. What they can give each other is so much love for the future but there will be some bumps along the way. Some interesting secondary characters also make an impact on the storyline. Lots of humor in the dialogue and situations that come up. This is a new author for me and I have already preordered the next book in the series. Highly recommend this book!
